Our Mission

Kids Home International is a non profit humanitarian organization that seeks to improve the quality of lives of the orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya, through programs designed to develop their spirit, mind and body, so they can realize their full potential in the society.

Kenya: Alarming Facts

  • 33% of children under the age of 5 are chronically malnourished
  • 1.5 m children are still out of school
  • 2.4 million children are orphans
  • 200,000-300,000 children are estimated to be on the streets of major cities
  • High mortality rate of 77/1000 
  • Violence against children in the home, in schools, and in other settings is a serious problem in Kenya, despite protections in the Children's Act
  • Children orphaned by HIV are vulnerable to a wide range of abuses, such as discrimination, property-grabbing, lack of access to education and health care, violence, labor and sexual exploitation
  • Psychosocial trauma suffered by orphans on losing their parents

Plan of Action


In order to respond to the growing number of orphans, Kids Home International has put forward five Strategic Plan: 

  1. Strengthen the capacity of families to protect and care for orphans and other children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS.
  2. Mobilize and strengthen community-based responses.
  3. Ensure access to essential services for orphans and vulnerable children.
  4. Ensure that governments protect the most vulnerable children.
  5. Raise awareness to create a supportive environment for children affected by HIV/AIDS
